A FABLE: THE GIRL & THE SNAKE
Once upon a time a young girl was trudging along a mountain path, trying to reach her grandmother’s house. It was bitter cold and the wind cut like a knife. When she was within sight of her destination, she heard a rustle at her feet.
Looking down, she saw a snake. Before she could move, the snake spoke to her.
He said: “I am about to die. It is too cold for me up here and I am freezing. There is no food in these mountains and I am starving. Please put me under your coat and take me with you.”
“No,” replied the girl. “I know your kind. You are a rattlesnake. If I pick you up, you will bite me and your bite is poisonous.”
“No, no,” said the snake. “If you help me, you will be my best friend. I will treat you differently.”
The little girl sat down on a rock for a moment to rest and think things over. She looked at the beautiful markings on the snake and had to admit that it was the most beautiful snake she had ever seen.
Suddenly, she said: “I believe you. I will save you. All living things deserve to be treated with kindness.”
The little girl reached over, put the snake gently under her coat and proceeded toward her grandmother’s house. Within a moment, she felt a sharp pain in her side. The snake had bitten her.
“How could you do this to me?” she cried. “You promised that you would not bite me if I would protect you from the bitter cold.”
The snake hissed: “You knew what I was when you picked me up”. He slithered away.
If it looks like a snake, moves like a snake and comes from a snake nest, it probably is a snake and can only be expected to behave like one.

We have had a strong response so far with members registering for the 2019 National Rally. So far almost everyone that has registered has also included the MEAL PLAN so please do no hesitate, let’s get signed up and reservations made. IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ:
Due to the success at our 2018 National Rally in Jefferson, Ohio compliments of Brother and Sister Theodore in regards to the lunch & Dinner arrangements, the Chapter in Maryville, TN would like to offer a “Meal Plan” at this years Rally. This meal plan would cover Thursday & Friday for both lunch (for those on the ride only) and dinner, immediately following service on both nights and will be held in the event center at FAC.
I could go into more details of all the benefits of the meal plan however anyone who attended the 2018 National Rally knows how nice it was to walk from the service and have a nice hot meal ready and waiting. Unfortunately this year there will be a cost involved. For those who wish to “go out” you are certainly welcomed to do so there are many restaurants in the area however you would miss out on some of the best fellowship were going to have at this years National Rally.
Due to the number of people attending I would strongly suggest you signup for the meal plan when you register. After July 25th the price of dinners will change to $20.00 for adults & $10.00 for children. In addition there will be only a limited number of “extra” dinners at the door available (I have been told by the ones preparing the meals they do not wish to have a lot of leftovers). Furthermore those that choose not to partake in the “lunch” meal plan(s) must bring a lunch with them if they want to eat. The venue for the lunches will be at a park or roadside picnic bench with limited or no access to any location to buy food. (Note: No extra lunches will be available for purchase on the ride)
Registration Fee – covers the registration, 2019 event pin, Saturday Breakfast & Saturday Lunch. The Maryville chapter will host a meet & greet in the event center following Wednesday night service where pizza, salad, desserts and drinks will be served complements of this local chapter.

Greetings and salutations in Jesus name, I have the blessing of seeing my mistakes that I can and plan on correcting for the 2nd Annual Bike blessing and Biker Sunday. Initially, I had had flyers printed up for outreach the day (they were printed approximately 2 months prior) before to the Bike blessing. I can see the need to have outreach started (ie., door to door canvassing) approximately 5-6 months out. I was successful in obtaining door prizes from our 2 local bike shops. Miller Motorworks and Finger Lake Harley Davidson, as well as ordering some additional door prizes. Overall it was warmly welcomed by those providing door prizes and allowing me to hang flyers in their establishments. Initial plans were outreach the day prior to the event, please folks start your outreach months prior. Contacting media sources would also get the event publicized even better and have more homes and businesses reached. Our very own ASR Road Captain was present and Rev. Joe Rapaglia preached the message on Sunday. Of course, we had Brother Norman Knight show up and is now in the process of becoming a full patch ASR member. My pastor, Pastor Brad Dutcher welcomed the opportunity to be Brother Norman’s pastor. Of course I want to thank Brother and Sister Medley for their supportive presence.
Unfortunately, due to dental work being done 2 days prior to Sunday, I had to miss the 1st Biker Sunday. But I am more encouraged because there will be one more ASR member here in NY. From the reports that Brother Theo gave, it was a very well received event and I am looking forward to even possibly getting my pastor to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation riders course and adding another rider to the NY ASR rolls. In hindsight, next year’s run will start earlier and on time (I think just talking to brothers in the Lord that ride overwhelmed me, since we are just starting). I would like to thank all my ASR brothers and sisters for their prayers of support. Next year if our Lord tarries, I am looking forward to seeing lost souls reached and saved by the word of God. One last item before I close this out is I promise I have no more wisdom teeth left to be pulled, lol. Thank You Lord Jesus for this opportunity to reach out to the lost and fellowship with brother riders.

I have heard it said that the Azusa StreetRiders ministry is all about souls well I might be throwing a monkey wrench into your theology but ASR is not necessarily all about souls. Don’t grab the wood, stake and your Zippo lighter just yet hear me out.
The burden for lost souls must be within each and everyone of us regardless of what ministry we belong to, regardless of what activities or interest groups we surround ourselves with. The burden for lost souls is as individual to each and everyone of us as our walk with God. Our burden for the lost can not be based by our membership within ASR, we need to understand that this burden which is a God-given, God mandated command known as the Great Commission in the word of God “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”.(Mark 16:15) This needs to apply to each of us regardless of membership.
You see Jesus mandated to individuals to go out into all the world and preach the gospel that was never directed to a particular ministry, a particular interest group or even a particular function of the church this mandate was given to individuals just like you and I. Let me take this a step further those absolutely knowing the truth, baptized in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost and living an overcoming life in my opinion should be held to a higher standard. To go out and seek out the lost just like you and I were at one time, those lost living in darkness, not knowing the truth, bound for a lake of fire, we have read the back of the book. Do you remember what that was like, I know I do? In addition each and everyone of us were lost regardless if you came in from a bar stood or sleeping under a pew on Sunday night we all needed to come to repentance and obey ACTS 2:38
We need to have a heart given desire to reach lost souls we must do our part through prayer, fasting, reading of the word of God daily and a strong foundation in a local Apostolic, tongue talking, baptizing in Jesus name, Holy Ghost filled church to give us a strong foundation to work from. Jesus will do the rest how do I know he said it! A strong desire for lost souls, sorry ASR cannot give you that, ASR however can certainly help equip you with the tools to assist you in your quest, if you have the desire.
We have a common thread that runs between all of us, motorcycles. We choose by the grace of God to allow Jesus Christ to take what we enjoy and put that to use for the kingdom of God. It’s true ASR has never won a soul however the God fearing members that have chosen to put what they have at God’s disposal (reminders me of a box lunch with 3 loves and a couple of fishes) and we allow God to put it to use which has through the Holy Ghost been able to reach the lost, see them baptized, filled with the Holy Ghost and are now part of the family of God.
I feel one of another great attributes or benefits of this ministry is how we encourage and equip each other to do battle. The Bible says “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” Proverbs 27:17. You know what another word for this is “Fellowship” Yes the times were with each other we do talk about motorcycles, new gadgets, helmets and places to ride (Like Tennessee, Oh Yea can’t wait ! ) but we also talk about Our Father’s Business and that’s what fellowship is all about.
In closing my wife brought up a good point and I don’t want any of you “He Men” to look sideways at me but she said she not concerned about who I am with or what I am doing when I am with my Azusa StreetRiders family. Not that she needs to worry but wives are just funny that way I think even if they don’t let on, they like it when they know their man is going about doing the work of the Lord. I like the fact that she not only approves of my time given to this ministry but she encourages me to be a part of this ministry in any way I can and that’s a nice feeling.
God Bless each and every one of you keep up the good work, pray everyday, remember to fast and always be faithful to the house of God and especially your home church.
