How To Get What You Want

I don’t know about you, but I like to have nice things! I love the feel of a Harley and the sound of the wind while riding. I love the feel of a great rifle and waiting for that deer to walk by on opening morning of hunting season. I love the feel of a great book in my hands. I love the beauty of a new Rolex and matching Hart Schaefer Marx suit from Dillard’s! I love the ride a new Lamborghini Diablo! Oh ok, some of those things I have never experienced but sure do want to!!

So how do I get what I want? I could tell you what my Grandpa told me and that’s to go get a job and make some money!! I could tell you to go rob a bank or steal the Lamborghini. I could tell you that you could come and ask me to buy the Rolex for you as a gift! There are a lot of both good and bad ways to obtain the things that we want in this world. I believe however that the good book contains a great secret to obtaining both the things that we need and also the things that we want!

Jesus said to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all of these things would be added to you!

To many times we get caught up in the wanting of things that we would like to have and even just wanting the things that we may need! WE want, want, want, and then forget that the priority in life should be about what we can do in His kingdom and not what we get done in our little fiefdom! I may need things to survive and I may also want nice things as well, but if I put the things in life first, then we stand little chance of receiving the real blessings of what God has for us!

The stress that we find in our day to day lives always seems to come from worrying about how we are going to get what we want! We worry about bills, tuition, doctors’ reports, careers, family issues, and all the other things that occupy our minds! Yet we are not to live in fear but in peace! Why worry about what we cannot control, and we cannot seem to fix on our own and worry about what we are doing to further His kingdom! When we wake up in the morning and doing His work is the first thing on our minds, the rest of the day seems to take care of itself! We put Him first in our life and He puts us first in His!! Make him your priority and he will make you His priority!

All I want is what I really really want and that is Jesus!! I want Him FIRST! I want to make sure that He is my FIRST priority! As for me and my house, we will serve Jesus FIRST! Nothing is more important than Him! Nothing takes his place at the top of my life! Nobody treats me like he does when I treat him the way HE deserves to be treated!

If you want something and I mean anything, the I suggest seeking His kingdom first and then just let it be added to you!!

It’s What We Do!

How proud we are of our accomplishments and wins!! We all love to be a success in what ever we do. Success should drive us to be the best we can be in both our secular lives and in our walk with God. The question is how do we measure our success!

Our measuring stick and Gods differ in many ways. Our ways are not his ways and I believe that is a great thing! When I don’t understand, he does. When I can’t move in any direction, he makes a way out of thin air! What a wonderful thing to be in the hands of a loving God!

In a few months we will be meeting for our national rally and I wanted to be sure and encourage all of our members to try and be there! Why? So that we can worship the one who has made us a success together! To be able to seek direction and to hear from him!

For those who will be running for office let the Lord direct you and your heart! Remember that it is a sacrifice of love (and money lol) to be able to reach into the lives of this membership and try to be an encouraging voice. It has been a privilege to serve this last year and it still feels like I only just started!

So much to do and so little time! The fields are truly white unto harvest!

Will God be pleased with our success? We can only hope and pray that we hear well done! I believe that if we put our whole heart into this ministry that we are a part of we cannot fail! Our prayer and spirit filled lives will be the difference in a dark world. This who are seeking the Savior are the important contacts that we make! Lord, let our lights shine brightly! Let us do what we do with all of our might and spirit!

Steel Horses

I grew up riding a horse before I could even walk. A real cowboy in every sense of the word. Our family ran six brands and over 1500 head of cattle from the time I was born until the late 80’s. I have roped more calves, horses, and yes even people (my sisters) than I can remember. My dad is missing two fingers on his right hand due missing a dally and the rope took them right off! He now needs custom gloves!! I have been thrown, kicked, and stomped enough to now be a very wise fella! I have had several near misses myself when it comes to roping and can tell you from experience that a rope burn will last for a few days. I have had many ropes fail in my lifetime and have to thank the Lord that I have not been seriously injured or dead!
Here in a few months, ASR will be taking part in the Bind the Strongman prayer meeting in Kentucky. As we begin to prepare to wage spiritual warfare, I believe it is a good thing to understand the situation that we find ourselves in. I am so thankful that the book tells us that what we bind here will be bound in Heaven and what we loose here on earth will be bound in Heaven as well! What a problem it would be to have to rely on natural rope to take care of our spiritual needs and problems! Nothing here on earth that is physical can be relied on to sufficiently work in our spiritual lives. It takes the power of an unseen hand to break our chains of bondage! It takes the spoken name of Jesus Christ to encounter the creative power of God himself! When we bind our addictions, personalities, issues, needs, wants, and whatever else that we need to get under control using the only Name under heaven that can save our souls, we can rest assured that the bound will stay bound and the loosed will stay loosed!!
I remember a day many years ago that I, Dad, and Grandpa were bringing a herd of cattle through the woods to the pens where we would separate the herd and take the smaller calves to the sale barn to sell them. In the middle of a thicket of vines and briars, my trusty steed got caught up in the vines and decided to rear up and when he did, I fell out of the saddle and hit the ground on my back which knocked all the breath out of me. I could not even speak as I watch the saddle horn coming my way and I had no way to move out of the way. I can remember trying to say Jesus but to no avail. I screamed it in my mind and as the horse fell towards me, something caused the horse to turn and fall directly beside me! I am so glad that even when we can’t speak his name, we can think his name! His name works when we cannot! I only have to think his name for it to be effective! I cannot wait to be able to use the name of Jesus to bind some things and loose some things at Bind the Strongman!! Can you??
Maybe my love of motorcycles come from my love of riding horses. I don’t know. I can tell you this however, that the ministry of ASR needs the tools used to bind and loose at every rally, church service, chapter meeting, and weekend ride. You never know who you are going to run into that needs someone who knows how to use the name of Jesus and can reach the throne room at a moment’s notice. I pray that you guys and gals keep your “horses” well cared for and your “rope” ready to use!! Saddle up and let’s reach a lost and dying world with his Name!!

Momma Don’t Let Your Kid Grow Up To Be A Biker!

I can remember the early conversations that occurred between myself and my parents about wanting a motorcycle when I reached the age of 15. Now understand that my Dad’s sister had been killed in a motorcycle accident when in her 20’s. You can imagine how the conversation turned out! Obeying those that have the rule (or ruler) over you is so difficult! The only horse that I was riding until many years later was one that ate a lot of hay! As the years progressed my life separated from home, I found myself buying a few bikes and learning through a couple of accidents that did no damage to myself the reasons why Mom & Dad were trying to keep me from getting hurt. Motorcycle and other forms of riding entertainment is certainly dangerous and have the potential of great bodily harm so please remember to be careful and keep your head on a swivel! Bike safety however is not my intent in this article. One of my earliest conversations with my Pastor centered around the idea of obeying parents when the directive was not seemingly in my interest or not based in sound judgement! (Tic) His counsel has stayed with me and has keep me from making some very stupid decisions in my life. One of the greatest feelings in the world is to be riding down the road with the wind in your face and feeling the freedom that being on a motorcycle makes you free! You feel as if you don’t have any problems. You can feel as if you are the king of the world for a while. This feeling is part of the heritage of motorcycles and while the feeling can be addictive and certainly entertaining, it will also leave one with a false sense of self and life as it really is. You see, the truth is that while we are here living in this world, the only real freedom is found in our relationship with God and our sense of self is determined by the condition of our soul. As the ASR ministry grows and become more impactful in our society, we must fight against the false sense of worldly worth and false freedoms! The Bible tells of things that would seem to be right in the eyes of a righteous man to do and sometime that gives us pause. Would God really give humanity that much control over what our actions should be? I believe that the believer is also given the kind of decision making power that can change not only them, but the world around them! As we make decisions as to what direction and what kind of ministry that ASR will become, we should always make the decisions by prayer first and then (what seemeth right) decisions will be made with a real freedom of the spirit and with confidence in what God has for his ministers (of whom each ASR member becomes when he places that patch on his cut). If we only view the ASR as a way to get together with other bikers and have some windy fun, then we have missed the ministry and influence that I believe that Jesus has directed us to try and pursue! In every event, in every club ride, in every chapter meeting, let God direct you and find a way to minister to a lost and dying world that is seeking for a way to fill the void in their life left by satan. Remember that we are a Holy Ghost filled, baptized in Jesus name, Apostolic, and world changing motorcycle ministers! Our standards cannot change and our vision cannot dim! Our voices must be heard above the roar of our pipes! Our representation of Jesus to this world must be without blemish or spot!  We may be the only link to that MC member for them to find a way to Jesus! We cannot be less than Jesus wants us to be and that is a CHRISTIAN! Our ASR ranks will continue to grow but we must be careful in that growth. We must never lose our Apostolic identity for when we become like the ones that we are trying to reach, we have camouflaged what we are trying to show them. I would encourage you, the ASR ministry, to be of good cheer, to be of great faith, and to be of intense focus. As we focus on Christ, then our eyes will not become dim nor our character become weak! Don’t let us grow and become just bikers but let us grow and become ministers (who ride bikes)!! Our field is the highway but our destination is still Heaven! As you have elected me to be your Vice President, I can only hope to help ASR have the kind of impact that will allow Him to say well done, my good and faithful servant. Please know that I am praying for each of you in your endeavors for this ministry and am available to each of you as needed.
