More on the New Disaster Relief Ministry of Azusa StreetRiders

I am posting this on behalf of Sis Amber Holland & Bro Steven Belrose

In 2017, the Texas coast was faced with the worst storm in the last 10 years. As we all prepared for the typical, seasonal hurricane, we soon realized we were way over our head, that we could never be prepared enough for what was going on around us. As we started to prepare for the absolute worst, it rapidly became apparent that this was going to be a devastating hurricane. As the winds blew and the rain squalled, many stayed and withstood the storm. We watched as our homes and property were torn to pieces. It soon became apparent that help was going to be needed on ever corner. it was laid upon the hearts of a few members what we could provide and do in the rescue of countless stranded families. The lord allowed a few of us to come together to aid our fellow man in their time of need. Boats were brought in and countless volunteers worked around the clock to reach stranded families and neighbors to bring them to a safe haven. At the end of our rescue attempts, the idea was tossed into the air about being able to do this as a group in the future. Little did we know, that the idea would be revisited, and would be seriously considered to become reality on a national level.

So now we would like to introduce to our ASR brother and sisters, the approval and full blessing of the national organization of ASR, the Azusa StreetRiders Emergency Response Team!!! We have been given full authority and power to form and organize regional emergency response teams throughout the United States and our other world wide chapters. For now, we are looking for those who want to go above and beyond just riding two wheels. We are looking for those that have the time and energy to be able to reach out beyond our local communities and touch a soul who needs help far beyond their own control. If you have a desire for an outreach ministry far beyond the norm, then this is the team you’re looking for…

Our idea is to set up regional teams throughout the United States to start with. From there, we will be in touch with our overseas chapters to set up coordinators to help set up teams within their areas. We are also looking into training organizations and facilities to help us prepare ourselves better incase certifications are necessary.

All of this is going to take some time to set up and organize. What started out as a whimsical idea and said in jest, has now turned into reality. We are proud to be apart of an organization who would support volunteers that are willing to give of themselves and time to be the angel in the hour of need to those that have been devastated. We hate the idea of any catastrophic event happening to anyone in any area of the world, Whether it be family or business, sinner or saint.

God has called each of us to sometimes bare the load of our brothers. In the Bible, we remember the story of where Cain slew his brother Able. The lord came to Cain and asked,  where is your brother? His reply was, “Am I my brothers keeper?” That story rings true today. Sometimes the load my be to much for one man to carry or try to recover from. That is where the ASR Emergency Response Team will step in and try to help make the load lighter.

Apostolic Life & Lifeline Connect

Hello Brother Thompson. We had our groundbreaking August 16 for the new Lifeline-connect 24 resident dorm. The 5,000 sq. ft. project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2019.  Several ASR riders participated in the Connecting Coast to Coast Ride in May to help raise funds for this project. Thank you very much ASR members!
The Lord has blessed and this project will be constructed debt-free.
Attached is pic of groundbreaking with names left to right.

Pray for Brother Todd Storey

I would like to ask that all of the Azusa StreetRiders family, friends and members continue to pray for Bro and Sis Storey and their family. Many of you know they were rear ended by a car while he and Sister Storey were riding on his motorcycle He has been in the hospital for weeks now and I just received a text he just came out of “another” surgery.

Please keep an eye out on our website and FB pages as to updates. In addition were attempting to put into place a medium in which we might be able to help in another way, by giving an offering for the family.

Azusa StreetRiders – Philippines

AZUSA STREET RIDERS PHILIPPINES

Big things often have small beginnings. Though started in 2009, the Azusa Street Riders Philippines was recognized as an official ASR chapter in 2017. It has now a current official count of 42 members.

The main purpose of this ministry is to help local churches with evangelism. They visit local churches in different provinces to help the local church pastors promote the UPC church in the area. They have been to different provinces in the northern and southern parts of Luzon to promote the ministry and at the same time share the gospel. During evangelism rides, the riders give out ASR leaflets to motorcycle clubs and tracks to people they meet. They also marshal big and small events under UPCI Philippines, like General Conferences, Pentecost Sunday, and other events. As the ministry grows, updates and changes were made to further enhance the ministry. As we are firstly soul winners, the star award was implemented as mandated by the ASR International. Two members of the ASR Philippines have been given this award.

The Azusa Street Riders Philippines grows continually by the grace of God, and all for the glory of God.

In Memory of Rev Bishop Ompad

BISHOP CELEDONIO OMPAD
Azusa StreetRiders Member – Philippines
Posted on behalf of our Brothers and Sisters
in the
Philippines our prayers are with you

On July 17, 2018, many were saddened by the news of the passing of Rev. Bishop Celedonio“Donnie” Ompad. A great man of God, and one of the pillars of the Apostolic faith in the Philippines. From being a fisherman, to becoming a fisher of man. He was truly a man full of wisdom and indeed a well-respected man of faith.

A week-long funeral service was prepared at the Philippine Evangelism Center, where BishopOmpad was the resident pastor.Stories of memories with our loving Bishop were shared; eulogies were told; word of encouragements were heard; songs were offered.

The interment was held on July 24, 2018. Headed by Azusa Street Riders Philippines, together with the other Riders group, escorted the procession from the Philippine Evangelism Center in Makati City to the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.

A final salute was given by the pastors led by his brother, Pastor Gadiel Ompad. As the Azusa Street Riders Philippines’ adviser, the riders also gave their final salute by raising their helmets.

We cannot deny that as human beings, it is sad and painful to lose someone. But the Lord is there to comfort the heavy-hearted. He had departed from this earth, but we know he has arrived in heaven. The battle has been won. You have fought a good fight of faith. You will be deeply missed, Rev. Bishop Celedonio Ompad. Your legacy continues here.
