Motorcycles For Missionaries Planning

With 23 motorcycles supplied to the mission field last year, we’re expecting greater things in 2025! Now is the time to begin planning your fundraising opportunities to sow into the work of God across the globe! I’m excited to see what God is going to do with Motorcycles for Missionaries this year. You are making an impact globally with your sacrifice and giving. God bless you for what you are doing to reach the lost, not only in the United States, but all around the world.

The Missed Shift

I know I’ve been there. Sitting at a stop sign or a red light, with the rumble of a v-twin at idle. Waiting on that moment when, with a quick release of the clutch, and a snap of the throttle, all of the available power of that engine will propel you forward with a roar, setting you back in the seat, with the thrill of acceleration.

The rpm’s climb rapidly, you pull the clutch, grab second, and twist the throttle again, only to feel no acceleration. In your attempt to grab second, you grabbed neutral instead. Suddenly, the joy is gone, the excitement fades, as what you intended to be a powerful launch, becomes nothing more than a missed shift.

As defeating as a missed shift on the bike can be, a “missed shift” in your spiritual walk can often result in the same feelings. What you intended to be a powerful step and journey with God, suddenly finds you struggling, feeling like you’re not getting anywhere.

The excitement fades, the zeal is gone, and you’re relegated to just cruising along, afraid to get too involved. You’re left wondering where you went wrong, and maybe this is just how it’s meant to be.

Psalm 37:23-24 tells us, The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down. For, the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.

Don’t let the missed shift be the end of your story. Second gear is still there, just waiting on the opportunity to be used. Third gear is still there, waiting on the chance to move you again.

The power of the Holy Ghost is still available to propel you forward in your ministry, in your outreach, and in your spiritual walk with God. Put your head down, pull the clutch, and grab second.

Remember, it’s only one down, and the rest is up.

Children’s Holy Ghost Rally (In Memory of Sis. Lydia Diaz)

At this year’s National Rally, ASR will be hosting a district Children’s Holy Ghost rally. This service will take place Friday evening in the Sunday School area of the church, while we are having our evangelistic service in the main sanctuary. We are looking forward to many children receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. As many of you know, Sis. Lydia Diaz loved the children of ASR, and would often take and do activities with them during the daily group rides at Nationals. In honor of her, we are inviting the children of the Michigan district to attend this year’s Holy Ghost rally. God is moving in the hearts of the children, and raising up tomorrow’s Apostolic leaders.

The following is a testimony from Sis. Ashley Renick of the Hocking Hills, OH Chapter:

On Friday March 21st, God moved in a mighty way at Anchor Christian Academy in Zanesville, OH. I am a teacher for fifth and six grade. I am always ready to serve in the kingdom of God. On this day, God chose me to hear his voice and pray with a girl in my classroom who received the Holy Ghost. As soon as she received the Holy Ghost, another in my class received the Holy Ghost, and before I knew it, all the students from the school were coming into the class room, and the Holy Ghost fell on many students. It felt like we were in the upper room on The Day of Pentecost. The students prayed and were in the Spirit for over three hours!!! 9 students were filled and many more refilled. Six students were baptized in Jesus name at lunch time, and others were baptized at their home churches on Sunday!! God is moving!!! Just remember never give up on God, and always be willing and ready to serve.

Winter Riding

It’s a crazy time of the year – it can be snowy one day and warm just a few days later. Cities love using road salt to treat icy and snowy roads. Road salt causes ice to melt and prevents refreezing. It is a relatively inexpensive solution to dangerous, icy roads.

But once the snow melts, residue from the salts often remain on the road and in puddles and moisture. If you plan on biking in the winter months, this salt and moisture is unavoidable. There are some steps you can take to prevent damage to your bike.

Preparation is key! Take the time to buy a few products to keep on hand and you will be able to prevent any corrosion or damage that the salts can do.

When road salts come in contact with precipitation, they release free-radical ions. When you ride and there is still salt on the roads and in puddles, you will get salt residue and these free-radical ions on your bike.

In the short term, these salts won’t do much more than create a hazy appearance to the paint and chrome on your bike. But if you don’t clean off those salts, over time and with exposure to oxygen, iron oxide forms which can destroy metal.

Your motorcycle is full of nooks and crannies and little crevices that allow roads salts to enter. This salt water can lead to corrosion and, over time, can destroy the finish on your bike. Enough exposure can even lead to degradation of the parts themselves.

1.    If you ride your motorcycle in the winter in an area that receives snow and ice, wash your motorcycle regularly.

2.    When riding, avoid puddles as much as possible. Puddles collect runoff and salts, and will splash your bike with a mess of chemicals.

3.     In order to avoid corrosion, you should repair any nicks or scratches in your paint. These exposed areas are quick to corrode, and also more difficult to wipe clean after you ride.

4.    Use a salt neutralizer. These products contain a blend of corrosion inhibitors to neutralize salt and chemicals on the roadways so that they can’t harm your bike’s finish. A less expensive method is to combine baking soda, water, and some bike wash and use this mixture to wash down your motorcycle.

Roadways tend to deteriorate after heavy snows. The freezing and refreezing of ice on the roads and the damage caused by road plows can leave behind potholes and divots in the pavement. If you ride in the winter months or even in the early spring, be aware that the roads can be especially dangerous. Loose pavement and fresh potholes can be treacherous for bikers, so be sure to actively scan the road when you ride.
