From monitoring both the Web Site and the various FB pages they have continually kept us informed and up to date with information relevant to ASR members and guests. In addition have kept inappropriate content from tarnishing our reputation. BroTheodore also contributes articles to our Rumblin’s every month and Bro Joseph works all the back office duties for our Web site.
So a big “Hat’s Off” for both you

Sometimes You Ride The Bike And Sometimes The Bike Rides You
Life seems to be so difficult to understand at times! It seems like all is going along so great and then WHAM! all hell breaks loose and you are in the fight of your life! I don’t know about you or your lives but mine has always seemed like a roller coaster and not the kiddie kind if you know what I mean!?! How do we get through the trials and disasters that come our way? How do we keep our chins up? How do we get to Heaven if is seems like all we live in is hell??
Well suffice it to say……I have no idea!! lol I do however have an idea on the mindset required to get through the issues and get to our promise!! A long time ago, when my bones weren’t as brittle and my brain wasn’t as developed, I broke, trained, and rode a few horses both on our ranch and rodeo. I had a wise old cowboy (Pawpaw) tell me after a little go round and mix up on a frisky critter that called itself a horse that sometimes you ride the horse and sometimes the horse rides you! Wonderful words to hear while dusting your seat off on the ground! (and almost hard to hear them though the laughter!)
I took a ride the other day with another ASR member and a mutual friend. I tried to tell them that they should pick the route. They did not listen and I punched in a route app that asked me if I wanted to avoid highways. I obviously checked YES!! Well, a few miles down the road, we found ourselves on a clay freshly graded road in Mississippi with mud about a foot deep. With a total of 5 falls between us and motorcycles that looked like dirt bikes after a weekend of fun, we finally spotted pavement ahead and went to find a car wash! AS I passed a Jeep going the other way laughing at such a odd sight, I told him through the window that a Jeep was cheating! What a day! Bikes seemed to be riding us more than we rode them. Thankfully no one was hurt and bikes lived to ride again.
How many times have we found ourselves on life muddy road and cant seem to get where we are going since we keep falling off our bikes? People laughing at our calamity and wondering why we are doing what we are doing? I can tell you that during these times, we may be in the dirt more than we are on the bikes, but the pavement is coming!! The road will get better and there will be a car wash around the corner to get cleaned back up!
I wish we didn’t have to go through some things but life is still life. We still have to get up every day and get to work in the kingdom. He didn’t promise us every day would be wonderful but he did promise us he would never leave us or forsake us! He would never put more on us than we can bear! We may sometimes choose the wrong road but he even keeps us safe and will provide a way out if necessary. Jesus love us enough to even overlook our zealous attitudes and let us avoid the highway at times.
I may not know how to avoid the muddy roads of our lives but I do know who helps go down them! If you are in the midst of a disaster, keep your chin up. You may be under the bike now, but there’s pavement coming! Jesus helps us to look back and maybe even find some humor. You should have seen us pitiful looking bikers!
Keep the wheels down and your spirits flying high!

Fasting Breaks Strongholds
Sincere Christians who have studied the scriptures understand the importance of prayer and fasting. Our awareness of God can dim over time as we stuff ourselves with the cares of life. Fasting calls us to refuse our fleshly appetites and eat only on the pleasures of the Word of God.
There is a spiritual excitement and joy in God that far exceeds the pleasure of this world. Once we “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8), we are no longer slaves to our fleshly desires. When we commune with the One our soul longs for during prayer and fasting our faith in God increases as well as our desire for Him.
Fasting reveals our deepest need for God and the joy and pleasure we find in Him. It also reveals what we are slaves to and the strongholds we need to repent of and tear down. Make a list of the things that separate you emotionally, spiritually, physically, socially, intellectually, and/or occupationally. How do these 6 dimensions interfere with your fellowship with Christ? Paul said, “all things are lawful but not profitable.”
During fasting our minds quite down so that we can hear the still small voice of God above the chatter of worldly desires. Fasting creates an atmosphere of Faith in God for self-revival. Our desire for others to know of God’s goodness rises to the forefront of our minds.
What are the strongholds affecting your life? What steals your time from prayer, fasting, reading the Word, fellowship with God and outreach? By allowing a stronghold to become a part of your life, you have made an agreement with the enemy to set up his fortress under your roof. Sometimes prayer alone is not sufficient to remove a stronghold. You certainly can’t fast a stronghold for a few days, return right back to it and expect to have power with God. They are so deeply rooted that you need prayer and fasting to pluck them up and cast them off.
Fasting and Prayer prepares us to have joy through suffering. We understand that when we walk through terrible things, we don’t lose joy in Christ, for in His presence is fullness of joy. It is only when we have completely died to self that the power of Christ is fully manifested.
Through fasting and prayer we can we find the same deep confidence and contentment in Christ that carried Him to the cross. Through His strength we can face any trial or hardship.
Our church, Christian Life Center of Myrtle Beach, will begin the Daniel Fast February 3rd and end on Saturday of “Bind The Strong Man.” We ask that all join us at some point during the month in fasting and prayer for this service.
Fred and I are so excited for all who are able to attend “Bind The Strong Man.” Anyone who has ever heard Bro. Hurt speak knows how rich and life-changing this service is going to be.

I have to believe that jesus Christ can reach a lost soul even under these circumstances. I know this this atmosphere may not be what some may consider conducive for reaching the lost I disagree. This is one of our mission fields so and I again encourage all those that possible can come be apart of this great event to please do so, in addition we can show support for a Home Missionary in the midst of it all.

Bind The Strong Man 2019, Myrtle Beach, SC, March 1 – 2
Everything is in motion for Bind The Strong Man 2019 (BTSM). Many of you have shared the flyers on social media and I encourage you to continue to do so. Please help keep this event at the top of your page. You never know who will see it and decide to attend. Our church seats about 250 and we’d love to have full capacity for a powerful all–night move of God! Remember the dates and location…Friday night, March 1, 2019, from 8:00 PM until Saturday March 2, 2019, at 7:00 AM. Christian Life Center, 124 April Gray Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.
I’ve had several inquiries about the event name, “Bind The Strong Man.” It comes from Mark 3:27 where Jesus says, “No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.” Before studying the scripture, I had a common misconception about its meaning. As with all Scripture, it must be read in context of surrounding Scripture to gain understanding…The “strong man” is Satan and the “house” is his domain. The “goods” are what he possesses—in this case, a blind and mute man whom Jesus releases from the power of a demon (Matthew 3:22). Jesus cannot use Satan’s power to cast out the demon because He needs to bind Satan in order to free the man.
This is what we strive for and what we hope to better understand after Bro. Hurt’s teachings at the BTSM 2019! Remember, the public is invited and everyone is encouraged to attend and bring guests. There is no charge! We encourage all ASR Members to attend as this kicks off our annual riding and witnessing season!
Chaplains, BTSM 2019 will be especially helpful to you! If we expect to see changes in our lives and the lives of those for whom we pray, we need to know more about prayer and how to become a true Prayer Warrior! Fasting sets the foundation for this event! Personally, I will be doing at least a 3–day (possibly longer) water–only fast the weekend before BTSM 2019. Please join me as there is power in numbers and let me know you’re participating so I can pray for you during this time. Towards the middle of February, I’ll be posting more on the two ASR Facebook pages (“ASR Friends” and “ASR Members Only”) to remind you, but please mentally prepare for fasting now…it helps!
The response for financially help fund BTSM 2109 from the ASR membership has been fantastic! Although BTSM is a “nationally sanctioned” ASR event, it is still fully funded by the local chapter of ASR and/or the local church. For this reason and due to the anticipated expenses, we’re asking any ASR member and/or ASR supporter for donations (fully tax deductible). 100% of the funds will be used for direct expenses for the event to include, airfare, meals and an honorarium for Bro. Hurt, plus snacks for the all–night event and breakfast Saturday morning for all ASR attendees. I would like to personally invite all members and beyond to this event. My wife Renaye and I are eyewitnesses to Bro. George Hurt’s ability to reach God through his prayer techniques. The presence of God was so thick that day it’s hard to put to words. “Amazing” is only one word that comes to mind. He talked to the four of that were in hotel room for little while, then prayed. We were all speaking in tongues and he instructed Renaye to step forward. She did, she walked few steps and he said, “Sister you’re walking!” She looked as if she saw ghost. He told her, “Don’t stop now!” She walked all over that hotel room, kept walking past wall mirror and saying, “I’m walking!” That was first time in 5.5 years that she was even able to put weight on left foot/leg, not to forget first time walking. I urge you all, if you can only attend one event this year, make it “Bind The Strong Man!”

Who Are The Azusa StreetRiders? Answer to an Email.

Many people have heard the name “Azusa StreetRiders” and know that it’s a motorcycle ministry, some even know we’re an Apostolic motorcycle ministry. But who are the Azusa StreetRiders? Pastor, what do you know about us? Apostolic motorcycle rider, what do you know about us?
In response to an email received on July 22, 2015, I attempted to answer the question received with the subject title “Just Want To Know.” I have modified the email below to only correct punctuation, spelling and grammar and to hide the identity of the individual who sent it. My response is nearly verbatim as to what I sent to him. As of this writing [and as of January 2019], I have not heard back.
Hopefully this email and its response will address some concerns others may have about “Who Are The Azusa StreetRiders?”

You see I’m a believer. There’s only one God, one Faith and one Baptism. And I do believe in Acts 2:38. And I have been baptized received the Holy Ghost and I do speak in other tongues.
But our church is having some problems and my pastor, well, I should just say pray for him. I told him I would like to ride with your colors but never heard anything and that was two years ago.
The reason I ask about your colors is that our church started in Southern California in the early 1930s following the Azusa Street Revival. And, well you know the rest. God just moved in a mighty way and now we preach all over the world and God is moving in a mighty way.
We’re in End Times my Brother. Maybe I’ll just design my own patch and put “Apostolic Rider for Jesus” on it if you don’t let me patch over [join Azusa StreetRiders]. See, I go where you guys don’t go; to bars, to 1% parties, etc. I just hang out where I used to. Isn’t that what Jesus said? “Go and preach my word.”
See most of you that are saved, you got in your comfort zone and don’t have that drive anymore. You forgot where God brought some of you from. Sorry but that’s the way it is. If you boys need someone in California, fast, pray and leave it to God. He’s always been there. Regardless, I’m going to my Master.

Greetings in Jesus’ Name! With interest, I read your message and inquiry above. Thank you for taking time to ask questions and share your thoughts.
Our colors are not copyrighted although several people have suggested that we do so. With the cost of design, set up, and embroidery, it is unlikely that someone would go to the trouble and expense of duplicating our backpatch. Should that happen, we would address it at that time and legal precedent is on our side to protect our colors. But seriously, this is of no concern.
From what you say, and assuming you are a faithful member of your church, you are definitely a candidate for membership in Azusa StreetRiders. All that would be required is the application completion and approval of your pastor. But, as you say, your pastor never responded to your inquiry about joining us. Please don’t be offended, but could it be, that you are not a “faithful” member of the church? Being a “faithful” member of your church is one of our requirements.
Over the years, we have had many, what I call, “rogue” Apostolic bikers try to join us. Some were successful, but most were not because of the insistence on a pastor’s approval to join ASR. By “rogue,” I’m simply referring to someone who has issues with authority and submission, both of which are solid Biblical principles. If someone cannot be “faithful” to a pastor and his church, can they truly be “faithful” to the kingdom of God?
As for your pastor, I pray every day for pastors around the world who preach God’s saving Acts 2:38 message. Hopefully he is in “right standing” with the Lord! I believe that many believing Christians, even many Apostolic pastors, will be surprised on Judgment Day just as they were in Matthew 7:21-23. Not knowing your pastor, I/we will pray for him and other pastors, that God would give them clear direction in these end times!
2 Corinthians 6:17 says, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” This Scripture, along with many other supportive Scriptures, is the basis for our outreach efforts. Also, Romans 14:16, “Let not then your good be evil spoken of.” These scriptures should not, and do not for Azusa StreetRiders, negate Luke 14:23 where Jesus said, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
As believing and faithful Apostolics, we must wisely balance our efforts to reach the lost. We believe this is done with the approval of and under the watchful eye of our pastors. If we have truly submitted to him, he should know us well enough to know whether or not we are capable of stepping into the world to “bring them out” or if we would be drawn back into the world. Highways and hedges ministry, true outreach into the anti-Christian cultures of the world, is not for everyone! I would like to think that every member of Azusa StreetRiders is capable of doing so, but, realistically, I know this is not true.
Hanging out in the bars and at the 1%ers’ parties, to us, runs contrary to the two scriptures cited above. Saying that, we try very hard to interact with 1%ers and others who are lost at any opportunity made available to us. We are a ministry, not a club! We try to avoid the club mentality. Yet, we do things that would surprise many Apostolics. For example, in my hometown of Myrtle Beach, SC, we have cosponsored a couple of events with the Hells Angels. This opened the door for me to teach a Bible study to the local chapter president and for several years, we were able to take his two boys to our church for Sunday school. Although not in church, he is a good friend today.
My suggestion—again, it’s up to the individual’s pastor—is to attend every function sponsored by any of the bike clubs or ministries. In doing so, however, I also suggest that we do not “enter” the bars, but rather stand outside and witness! This is especially effective for us during poker runs.
By using this approach, I have been told by 1%ers on several occasions and have had other club members tell me that there is a different, higher level of respect given to Azusa StreetRiders because we are not perceived as a “sitting-on-the-fence-ministry.” Other ASR members have had similar statements made to them for approaching outreach in this manner.
Having said all of this, please do not take my statements as condemnation for what you are doing. For us, this approach has proven not only to be successful, but to be acceptable to our Apostolic non-biking brethren…our “good” is not mistaken for “evil.”
The term “comfort zone” to you seems to mean “going places where church-going Christians do not typically go.” Food for thought… Could it be that your “comfort zone” is in the bars and with the 1%ers and hanging out at church is OUTSIDE of your “comfort zone?” Don’t be misled into thinking that you can only reach those you are trying to reach by being just like them! Read Romans 12:2.
Hopefully this email will give you clarity as to the Azusa StreetRiders approach to outreach. Remember, the last part of Luke 14:23 says, “…and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Jesus didn’t say “compel them to sit on barstools and have church.” Our goal is to “fill His house.”

If you desire to join us based on our outreach model cited above, I suggest you fast and pray about it and if God directs you, download our application, fill it out completely, take it to your pastor and have a serious conversation with him about your walk with God. Novice Rider Heading For The Highway
How much riding experience should a novice rider have before taking their motorcycle out on the highway?
Interstate, or ”controlled access.” highways present a few challenges to the novice rider. as well as some advantages. The main advantage is that. aside from the entrance and exit ramps, there are no intersections. As a result. there are no oncoming vehicles that may turn left across your path: there are no vehicles on cross streets running stop lights or stop signs; there are no vehicles backing out of driveways or rushing out of parking lots at the last moment. And if there are HOV lanes – which, per federal law, riders can use nationwide even when riding solo-you may find them to be the most lightly traveled lanes on the highway.
However, typical highway speeds and a large number of traffic lanes may be intimidating. Lane changes can be perilous, whether you are the one making them or you are dealing with other vehicles switching lanes Motorists might not use turn signals or look over their shoulders in advance of a change, or might not provide a large space cushion in front of you when they pull in.
Your keen situational awareness and sharp reflexes will be tested. I always tell new riders practice, practice, practice. Yes that means first staying in a parking lot practicing all your maneuvers. This also means higher speeds and braking and practice swerving. This is very important to learn how to control your bike in a parking lot from slow speeds to high speeds. By doing this you will see that everything happens faster on the highways. And now you will have developed skills in learning how to maneuver your bike while scanning and evaluating traffic situations.
On-ramps and off-ramps can present their own challenges. When entering the highway, it is best to accelerate and match the speed of traffic when possible in order to merge properly. Precise shifting skills are very helpful here. Off-ramps will vary in length and radius. Good visual assessment of the ramp plus good judgement in braking and cornering are essential. Riding twisty roads can help develop these skills. With well-honed riding skills and an arsenal of risk-management strategies, you can safely venture onto the interstate highway.
But your first time should not be during rush hour, when you would have to deal with tired, impatient drivers doing their stop-and-go,frequent-lane-change maneuvers. If you are not comfortable maintaining highway speeds, you may present a hazard to other motorists. Consider sticking to surface streets until you have logged in sufficient miles and gained an adequate level of confidence.

Looking Forward
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ I pray everyone had a blessed holiday with family and friends. Now that we have geared down on 2018 and revving up for 2019 I wanted to take a moment and once again attempt to set the pace for the following year. We have many events going up on the calendar already so allow me to encourage you to register your event as early as you can.
Which brings me to another point I feel it’s the desire of this board, for us as a ministry, to get booths on the ground and do what we can to reach souls. When an ASR chapter hosts an event and has lost souls (riders) not associated with the apostolic message that is the first step to fulfilling the commission handed down to each and everyone of us by our Lord Jesus Christ.
I would like to encourage you that when you do plan an event that we keep in the back of our minds the terms “outreach” and “lost souls” and the thought of eternity and how this applies to the core of this ministry. ASR can be that bridge to so many people all we need to do set the groundwork and allow Jesus Christ to do the rest.
I know there are those that have done events every year for many years and let’s be transparent, some with great results with respect to reaching out to lost souls and some a needed time of fellowship amongst a brethren both. In addition in 2018 there were several chapters for the first time stepped out in faith planned, sponsored and executed an event and the Lord blessed because lost souls were touched.
It’s not how many ASR members we get to an event that makes it successful it’s that one or two riders or lost souls whose hearts are touched maybe for the first time by our witness, that is what makes an event successful. On that note I want to encourage the membership of this ministry to support events of other chapter especially those that might be hosting for the first time as I know we already do.
It’s our job to sow the seeds, that’s all; none of us have ever saved anyone that part of the process is left up to the Lord Jesus Christ. In addition we may never know what seed that we sow at one of our events might affect someone for eternity so be encouraged that even though you don’t see the fruits of your labor right away that you have done the will of Jesus Christ by stepping out, in faith doing the best of your ability to witness to that one lost soul that Jesus Christ has orchestrated for you to be in the right place at the right time !
In order to do that we “all” need to be prepared through training and practical application, this is what this year’s BTSM is all about. True some ASR members are seasoned prayer warriors and some, well maybe your just staring out regardless all of us can use a “refresher course” when it comes to prayer. My experience is in an atmosphere like this the Lord will drop “nuggets” that we could walk away with that will make me that us a better prayer warrior.
We need to make the commitment to be in Myrtle Beach on March 1st let’s start off this year in prayer and supplication to the Lord so we can see lost souls saved and this ministry flourishing doing the work of the Lord. With the help of Bro Hurt I want, for myself, to kick off this year “hitting the ground running” and I feel this is the best way to achieve that.
In closing I want to say that I count it a privilege to service each and every one of you in this capacity, it’s been both a humbling experience and a challenge. Your current board and I have work hard in an attempt to take this ministry to a new level of excellence and that does not happen over night. However we are seeing some fruits not only our labor but the efforts of many within this ministry. Let’s keep up the good work until the Lord comes.
